"Ron DiCesare, an independent recording engineer in New York, used CR89 and USB.009 microphones with dubbing and instruments."
You can read the detailed article of this test on postperspective.com :
"I tested the CR89 and Neumann U-87 microphones by dubbing them one week apart. The difference between the CR89 and Neumann U-87 was very small. In fact, CR89 was one step ahead in the top-ends. Having a slightly brighter sound is ideal for voice recording.
I think the CR89 could replace the Neumann U-87 as a standard recording microphone."
"The USB.009 has performed as well as the CR89 in every dub I've done. And yes, if you connect the dots, the same mic is at least as good as the U-87 for voice recording. That's an incredible feat for any mic, especially a USB mic."
