First introduced at the 2008 NAMM show, the U46XL is a multi-purpose 4-input, 6-output audio interface designed for a variety of recording applications at home or on the road.
The U46XL is an updated version of its predecessor, the U46DJ. Like its predecessor, it has 2 stereo line inputs, a microphone input with +48V phantom power, and a headphone output. Its main differences are its improved analog circuitry that improves sound quality, and its microphone preamplifier with XLR input. This feature makes the U46XL suitable for recording dynamic or condenser microphones. The unit also has a Hi-Z input for instrument input. Along with the independent stereo line input on the rear, there is an input for recording 4 channels simultaneously. The independent 6-channel output on the rear also offers great flexibility for multi-channel playback, independent outputs for software instruments, and surround output for 5.1 systems. The independent mix output on the TRS outputs allows the U46XL to be connected to professional studio monitors.
U46XL is compatible with Windows XP/Vista and Mac OS X.
