2 Channel Passive DI Box
The Telefunken TDP-1 (mono unit) and TDP-2 (dual unit) are new passive DI Box designs that combine premium quality components with robust construction to create a reliable DI with a rich, warm tone. Utilising a UK-made OEP/Carnhill transformer, combined with a simple "less is best" design approach, the Telefunken passive DIs provide superior resonance and character to best complement the natural tone and feel of your instrument.
Sonic Characteristics While some DI BOXes focus on providing flat, ultra-clean gain, they often leave the instrument devoid of any soul or character, or some DIs introduce artificial low end and harmonic distortion, resulting in an odd and undefined output. The Telefunken passive DI avoids these common design pitfalls and sets a new standard for DI BOXes in terms of reliability and performance.
Circuit design The heart of the design is the custom wound output transformer manufactured by OEP/Carnhill in the UK. The circuit board is gold plated and hand assembled with fully through-hole components. It provides more secure and reliable connections than typical assembly circuits. The frequency response of the circuit is ±1dB from 10 Hz to 70 kHz with extremely low distortion and noise. Each unit is manually tuned for the lowest possible distortion figure. The high input impedance prevents passive pickup loading. This meticulous attention to detail and high quality component selection results in a DI BOX with a harmonically rich low end and detailed, clear high-end clarity.
Structure The circuitry is housed in an extremely durable extruded aluminum enclosure with recessed switches and connectors. This rugged construction is virtually indestructible and will not wear out. Each channel has two heavy-duty metal toggle switches that engage with a -15dB pad and ground lift.
