In 1958, John C. Koss, along with engineer Martin Lange, Jr., developed a portable stereo phonograph player with side-wing speakers. The duo demonstrated their new stereo turntable at an audio show in Wisconsin. One of the product's unique features was a privacy switch that allowed listeners to listen to music by plugging in the world's first SP/3 stereo headphones.
