The Tube Man MK II is exactly the same as the original Tube Man Mini Core pedal, but the circuit design has been changed to provide more gain and headroom than the original version!

That was exactly our goal! If you don't play with a real tube amp and can't turn the volume up as high as you want, it's not easy to get that great tone from a tube amp!
The original Tube Screamer design was produced with OP-AMP as it is known. This basic design gave excellent results only with the amplifier it was most compatible with. Since there was no distortion on it, the signal had to be forced until it entered distortion (diode clipping). When pushed too little, it gave overdrive, and when loaded too much, it gave distortion.
But There Is A Better Option For This Job!
By using FET transistors with Overdrive and Distortion characteristics, it is a much more successful approach to get the original tones of real tube amplifiers. By using FET transistors, the harmonics and distortion clipping in the signal are very similar to the characteristics of a real tube amplifier.
With this type of pedal design, much richer tones that stand out in the mix can be obtained when you play solo, while rhythm sections will be heard much more expressive and open. It is also much easier to obtain great overdrive and distortion tones that do not get lost in the mix, are dominant in the middle frequencies and have a wide dynamic range!
