Nux Tape Echo Delay Pedal

NUX TAPE ECHO is a tribute to the Japanese-made Space Echo from 1974. Analogue tape echo devices would record incoming audio onto a loop of magnetic tape, then replay the loop continuously on the playback head before being erased again with new incoming audio. The Space Echo units used standard 1/4" tape designed to be wound onto tape spools, but this unit did not use any spools; the tape is transported via a capstan drive. The tape loop is contained in a loose, continuous, moving tangle in the tape compartment (also known as the tape tank) beneath a plastic panel that protects the tape and prevents it from tangling. The design has resulted in lower levels of noise, wow and flutter, and reduced tape wear. The NUX TAPE ECHO uses Core-Image technology to capture these features, including BASS, TREBLE, REPEAT RATE (TIME), INTENSITY (REPEAT), ECHO VOLUME (LEVEL), REVERB VOLUME (REVERB) and physical characteristics such as WOW, FLUTTER, SATURATION. Self-refresh, even self-oscillation, using a dual footswitch stomp box enclosure!




Repro-Tape Heads Combination



NUX Tape Echo retains the controls of the original hardware and adds some for modern workflows. Use the SELECT knob for various head combinations, TIME for timing control and the REPEAT knob for repeats and self-oscillation. New features include BPM/MS switching and TAP TEMPO.

Spring Reverb, psychedelic Slapback and Ambience

The key feature of Space Echo is spring reverb. Core-Image technology captures the natural spring reverb sound, combines the warm and organic delay, TAPE ECHO gives you lush echoes.

Hold down the ON foot switch and you can engage self-oscillation for endless feedback.

Press ON and TAP footswitches simultaneously to enter SOS mode (looper). Meanwhile, ON footswitch can REC/PLAY/DUB as track looper function. The display will show you the current status. During loop playback, you can press ON and TAP footswitch to exit SOS mode, loop playback will continue. You can change the parameters and enter SOS mode again.







Editor Software

You can assign MIDI settings via the editor. TAPE ECHO includes 3.5mm TRS/MIDI adapters for MIDI IN/OUT functionality. It's a versatile and compact tool for modern guitarists looking for a retro echo sound.






1. Adding alternative ways to route Delay and Reverb.

After the firmware update, you can use the new editor software to route the delay and reverb in different configurations, for example parallel (both act independently of each other), reverb to delay and delay to reverb.

2. Adding support for synchronizing delay time to MIDI clock.

In addition to Tap Tempo, NUX Tape Echo now features MIDI clock sync delay time.
