Building on the success of the MC2.1, the MC3.1 monitor controller delivers accurate, transparent sound and has the same build quality as the MC2.1. It delivers the recorded sound as it is, without colouration, yet has a much broader feature set including more inputs, better control, expanded channel routing and a desktop 'wedge' form factor.
Additionally, there is a combined digital AES/SPDIF (24-bit/192kHz) input for a total of 5 custom-switchable sources, including a front-panel auxiliary input with level control for easy connection of your MP3 player, smartphone or tablet. Full cue mix with level control provides separate source selection for the main or cue outputs and two headphone amplifiers, so the performer can listen to a completely different mix from the engineer. A dedicated cue mix output is also available. A secondary preset volume control on the front provides repeatable calibrated output levels for the monitors, so with the flick of a switch, the engineer can hear the mix at the same preset volume without having to meticulously adjust controls.
The MC3.1 features three stereo balanced speaker outputs, plus a dedicated mono speaker/sub-woofer output with individual left/right overlays on the bottom of the unit for full control over level matching. Each can also be switched individually, simultaneously, and in any order. You can listen to multiple speakers with the same sub-woofer, or turn the sub-woofer off completely. Other features include low, mid, and high frequency solo switches, as well as a mix control that lets you control the low-frequency to mid-frequency crossover level or the stereo width of each. Talkback has been expanded to include an external microphone in addition to the built-in and footswitch operation.
