The FetHead Germanium is a high-quality microphone preamp. It adds Germanium harmonics, providing a powerful and direct sound for ribbon and dynamic microphones. Its full, rich sound is reminiscent of much higher priced vintage equipment.
Germanium color
Germanium transistors were widely used in the earliest transistor designs by Neve, EMI, Telefunken and Fairchild. To take full advantage of the "germanium" color and still achieve the same sound quality we are known for, we created a new hybrid circuit consisting of low noise JFets, hand-selected germanium transistors.
Protects your microphone
Some ribbon microphones will not tolerate phantom power. The FetHead Germanium circuit uses 48v phantom power but your microphone will be protected from 48v.
