An influential legend in the thrash metal world, Gary Holt joined Bay Area band Exodus with his friend Kirk Hammett in 1981 and has written and performed on every Exodus album since. Gary’s distinctive playing style has made him the ideal choice as a second guitarist for Slayer on their recent albums and tours. His LTD Signature Series GH-SV guitar delivers all the aggression and power that Gary is known and loved for. This guitar uses the sought-after ESP SV shape, with one side of the V-shape being longer than the other. The top and back of the body are flat, designed not to interfere with the pure shred structure. Measuring 24.75” in scale, the GH-SV features neck-through-body construction, a three-piece slim U-shaped mahogany neck and a mahogany body with a maple veneer. The guitar’s black finish is accented with multi-layered red trim on the body, red trim on the neck and headstock, red pickup covers, and the signature red-lettered LTD logo. The Macassar ebony neck features perloid split-block inlays and 22 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets. The GH-SV's components include a double-locking Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo system, Grover tuners, and direct-mount active pickups including the EMG 89R (neck) and EMG 81 (bridge). The EMG 89R has reverse coils to keep the single coil section closer to the neck, and features a push-pull control for pickup splitting. It comes with an ESP deluxe hardcover case.
